Gambling games are a confluence of luck and skill. However, luck is the dominating part of this mix. This is especially true for online bingo, where luck drives the game and only luck determines the winner. Many players have tried to make up techniques to gain control over the element of luck involved in bingo, but none have succeeded. But, the trials were not totally fruitless, the resulting strategies have become popular and are used by many players today, I don’t know though, to how much success.
The first and the most popular one is the strategy developed by Joseph Granville. He was a mathematician and analyst who claimed to have developed a predicting strategy for the stock market. He also researched on Bingo and realized that the element of luck can be twisted and used for one’s advantage. His strategy is based on the concept of randomness.
All the numbers in bingo game have an equal probability of being called. This goes to say that all the cards have an equal probability of winning. However, Granville’s theory suggests that the case is not so. He says that if every number has a chance of being called, then even numbers and odd numbers have an equal probability of being called. Similarly, smaller numbers and bigger numbers have an equal chance of being called. Thus, card that has a better chance of winning is the card with uniform distribution of number. In other words, the card with ‘randomness’ in its numbers should win.
Suppose, in 75 ball Bingo numbers 41, 23, 27, 60 have been called. As odd numbers have been called more times, thus as per Granville’s theory, even numbers have better odds of being called. So, players looking to buy a card at this point should look for card with a better distribution of even numbers.
As opposed to Granville’s theory, many people believe that as every card has an equal chance to win and thus buying more cards means that a player must have a better chance to win. So, players tend to buy more cards and keep playing for all of them. But Granville did not agree with this theory. He says that it not about buying more cards, but its about buying the right cards. A player will have no advantage over others if he buys the wrong cards. He must buy cards in which numbers are randomly distributed.
But through it all, I don’t think that such strategies actually work. Online bingo in my opinion, is a game governed by luck and very great for passing time and socializing. But this game has almost no space for strategies. So, I guess it all comes down to your lucky charms to do their job and twist the flow of luck. The good old lucky ties and caps must be worn before you sit in front of your computer. Maybe you can pray to god, cross you fingers and kiss the monitor to start with.
